roughdraftsinthemaking asked: Here is a classic problem: Which is correct?
My dog's, Fido, collar is missing.
or
My dog, Fido's, collar is missing.
I would probably reword to avoid the whole problem, but I see this possessive issue often enough in others' writings to want to know what the actual answer is. Any thoughts? Thanks!
It would be “My dog, Fido’s, collar is missing.” But yeah, I would just reword it to avoid confusion.
